Additional Information

  • What started as a way to keep fit on a day to day basis, it metamorphized into a bigger goal that eventually led to these two accomplishments.  The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.  The 1st step is always the hardest.  Once you start on your journey, one just needs perseverance and grit.  To stick to one's goals requires the use of inner energies in the right place and in the right quantity.

  • It took Ricky 10 years to accomplish the goal of 50 marathons in 50 states and another 3 years to summit Mt. Everest.

  • Ran Brazil 135 (January 2020):  Imagine running 5 back to back marathons (26.2 miles) and then adding 4  more miles just for the fun of it. Imagine this ultra now has an elevation gain of approximately 30000 feet which is the height of Mount Everest. Now just for fun, they put this in summer in the Andes range in Brazil which is in February.  Brazil 135 is an invitation-only event in which the top athletes from the world are invited.

  • 24 hour runs:  Ricky has run 24 hour runs twice as part of the New Jersey running festival.  October 2020 & November 2019.

  • Badwater 267 VR:  This challenge started January 1st, 2021 and you had the whole month of January to complete your mission of running  267 miles.  Anyone can run a few hours on any day but to consistently do it every day for a month takes a different kind of consistency, discipline And grit.

 Rocky Raccoon - 100 Mile (February 2021)

Why would anyone choose to run 100 miles if they do not need to.   There are no right or wrong answers.  Each one of us answers for themselves.  To quote David Goggins , “I am terrified of living a life so unchallenging that I never figure out what I’m capable of.” My feet today are studded with multiple painful blisters.  Shoes full of yucky mud and new running gear full of dirt from falling on the trails.   This day was full of  emotion. Triumph, delight, and gratitude. The joy of reaching the finish line is unsurpassed in terms by anything else.  There were miles that took me 10 minutes but there were also miles that seemed forever. In life as in running, running teaches us that pain and pleasure are not mutually incompatible and that the same activity that give us so much pain can also give us so much pleasure.

PINE CREEK CHALLENGE - 100 MILES

JULY 31st, 2021

Once summer rolls its lazy self into Western New York, the landscape takes on a whole new look and feel. You can rest assured that the Erie Canal Towpath is as flat and fast as ever, with its groomed, crushed cinder surface. You simply will not find a more runner-friendly course anywhere on the planet. In place of snow, and ice, and gusting winter winds, you'll find a lush green, tree-lined path along the waters of the historic Erie Canal. But don't throw away your old belt buckle just yet. There's still 100 miles of path, hours and hours of sweat, and over 176,000 footsteps under the brutal summer sun between you and your 100-Mile Finisher buckle.

PINE CREEK CHALLENGE - 100 MILES

TESLA HERTZ RUN - 100 MILES

October 9th,  2021

The course is set in a really beautiful piece of Long Island. Mainly in the pine barren area, a 10.48 mile loop has so little outside world interaction with it.

10 mile loop on trail. Starting at the most Northern point of the Pine Barrens Long Island Greenbelt Trail. The racers will run on a section of the greenbelt trail which is well maintained, with some technical spots and soft sand. Some rolling hills and a slight elevation change around the 8th mile of each loop.
